Where the water is blue and the people are new. To another island, in another life.

I was writing down things to remember about my travels, in this great travel book that I bought a few years ago, but realized that I actually don't remember that much about Laos. Since India was our last stop, I obviously remember loads of things of various reasons, China is starting to get a bit hazy, however, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Nepal are somewhat fresh.

I actually didn't know that much about Laos before we left, it just happened to cross our way, conveniently close to the other countries we travelled to. Our trip started in Don Det, one of all the 4000 islands, a bumpy bussride that took about 14 hours from Siem Reap, in Cambodia.
Once we arrived, it was already dark, boat ride to the island, and fortunately we found a place to stay, Little Eden. Started our visit on the island with new friends, trying out Laap, Laos national dish. Since we arrived so late, we didn't see much of the island until the next day when the sun came up. Days after that were mostly spent relaxing, recovering from our wild days in Sihanoukville.

Sunset at arrival, after 14 hours trip.
New day, pretty colours.
Beautiful nature

Fishing time
Hungry cat joined for lunch.
Rented bikes for 1 dollar, and explored the island.

We stayed at Little Eden, and enjoyed this beautiful sunset.
